Established in 2007 as a subsidiary of VP Records, 17 North Parade is named after the location of Randy's Records in Kingston, Jamaica, which was the predecessor to VP Records. The label primarily reissues reggae, ska, mento, and rocksteady albums from the 1970s and 1980s, offering remastered and expanded versions by artists such as Dennis Brown, Toyan, Little John, and others. It also releases music from both established and emerging reggae musicians. The label aims to document the history and development of reggae music.
To celebrate the enduring legacy of the label, a special 17 North Parade long sleeve t-shirt was created. This commemorative piece features a design inspired by the vibrant spirit of Kingston’s legendary record shop, with bold graphics and vintage reggae motifs that pay homage to the roots of the genre. The shirt stands as both a tribute to the pioneering history of 17 North Parade and a statement of pride for reggae enthusiasts everywhere.
